FENDER'S NOTE: Both FINANCIAL CALCULATOR and MASTERCALC tackle the financial
problems encountered when borrowing or loaning money, but they approach them
from different angles. Try them both out and see which one appeals to your
sensibilities and tastes. FINANCIAL CALCULATOR describes very clearly in
the program what data you are expected to enter and what will be solved for.
If you are a relative newcomer to the wonderful world of high finance,
Barbara's concise descriptions of what you would use a particular formula
for may make FINANCIAL CALCULATOR your preferred choice.
FINANCIAL CALCULATOR will allow you to calculate the answers to many
everyday questions regarding savings and loans. Eleven financial
calculations are included.
For example, if you are buying a car or home, use Monthly Payment to
figure how much you will be paying per month based on the cost, interest
rate and length of your new loan. Or if you need to save a certain amount
of money in a specified time period like for your child's college education,
use Future Sum to determine how much money to save each month to reach this
goal. Want to see the effects of increasing your monthly mortgage payment?
Use Accelerated payments to see how many years you can reduce your loan by
and also save interest money at the same time. You'll be surprised. Or
perhaps you would like to see how an investment is doing? Select Interest
Rate to calculate your ROI.
To use the program, simply use the UP/DOWN cursor keys to highlight the
menu selections. As you do this, you will see a capsule summary of each
financial calculation. Press RETURN to select. Then enter the data as
required. After the calculation is performed you may redo the calculation
using different figures, print out the information or return to the menu.
In the case of Amortization, you may also see the next year of the loan.
The data entry is as easy as can be. Just enter a number (with decimal
point) and press RETURN. Any previous amount in the field is displayed to
the right of the entry field.
Computers and finances go hand in hand. LOADSTAR hopes that the two
financial programs on this issue help you better understand this complicated
field.
